The VKKJ is neither politically nor confessionally bound. It is very important for the association to work together with affected relatives and institutions in order to create optimal conditions for the care of people with special needs and to provide care for families.

Since its founding in 1975, the organization has grown steadily, expanding its offerings and becoming one of the leading institutions in the field of pediatrics. Today the VKKJ forms the umbrella organization for the original association with administration, management and the daily center Wr . Neustadt and the two non-profit companies in Vienna and Lower Austria. The GmbHs are assigned to the ambulatories of the respective federal states. The club itself is 100 percent owner of the two charitable companies.
