Since March 31, 1999, about 130 broadcasters have been responsible for more than 60 daily, weekly and monthly programs as well as various languages. In addition to these programs in open access, the FRS produces an information magazine, a daily event calendar and various project-related formats. With open access and several training opportunities, the Free Radio is a place of learning for journalistic, technical and social skills. The FRS program is a 24-hour full program, constitutes a journalistic supplement to the regional reporting and contributes to the diversity of opinion and media in the Salzkammergut. The information production takes place according to the "bottom-up" principle and is anchored by the radio producers in the individual locations and small regions. This direct form of reporting promotes participation, participation and self-empowerment of the population. Since early May 2010, the radio operates in the old Landesmusikschule Vöcklabruck an outdoor studio - called by the editors "Radionest". The Radionest offers low-threshold production conditions and consists of a broadcasting studio and a editing room for editing contributions. The FRS uses a network of seven transmitters, has a technical reach of about 240,000 people and an effective daily reach of 6.2%. Installation, maintenance and conversion of the transmitter are carried out on their own. With the studio in Bad Ischl , the outdoor studio in Vöcklabruck, a radio room in Gmunden and broadcasting stations in Upper Austria, Salzburg and Styria, the radio has developed into a cultural business with integrative potential. Numerous cooperations with educational institutions, cultural associations and citizens' initiatives underline the development of the station. Free Radio Salzkammergut is a member of the Association of Free Radios Austria (VFRÖ).
